A Win to Remember: Milo Shines at Mornington
A terrific win by Milo today!
After much anticipation, we finally drew a decent barrier, giving us the opportunity to truly showcase Milo’s potential.
And did he deliver!
The odds-on favourite, Buades, with none other than Craig Williams making the trip to Mornington for the ride, looked like a formidable opponent.
Buades’ last-start win carried plenty of merit, beating Capitalex, who subsequently placed a solid second in town.
But today, Milo showed everyone that he has plenty of talent—it’s just a matter of putting all the pieces together.
His first-up run may have looked ordinary to some, but the final sectionals, completed under no pressure, hinted that he wasn’t far away from a breakout performance.
All he needed was the right ride and a clear plan.
This time, we had both.
With a clear strategy in place, we set out to ensure Milo was within striking range on the turn. The rest, we were confident, would be up to him.
Credit must go to jockey D. Stackhouse, whose persistent encouragement kept Milo in the game.
500m left in the run, Milo was under the whip and hanging on at the rear.
Whilst others thought he was spent, Milo was just warming up.
By the 150m mark, the narrative changed dramatically.
As soon as he pricked his ears and dropped his head on the turn, it was game over.
The grin on Stackhouse’s face all the way up the straight said it all.
The moment he surged ahead, it was clear—Milo had this in the bag.
There’s still work to be done, but today proved that Milo is on his way to fulfilling his potential.
Congratulations to all connections, and here’s to many more days like today!
