Regal Secret Uncovers Key to Her Finishing Burst in Stunning Performance

Regal Secret Wins at Park Kyneton

Regal Secret Holds Firm to Claim Thrilling Victory at Kyneton

Kyneton Race 7, 1100m Benchmark 62 – Regal Secret, ridden by Daniel Stackhouse, has delivered a gutsy win for owners and connections, proving her class and resilience on a testing track.

After a spell of consistent but unfulfilled efforts, Regal Secret finally got her head in front in a competitive seven-horse field at Kyneton.

Positioned perfectly by Stackhouse just behind the pace, she travelled comfortably throughout and responded to every challenge in the straight.

When favourite Sugar Snaps looked set to steal the race, Regal Secret dug deep, gradually wearing down her rival to score a decisive victory by a narrow margin.

The win was a product not just of talent but careful preparation.

Trainer Phillip Stokes and his team have worked meticulously to get the mare firing again, experimenting with gear and riding patterns to find the combination that brings out her best.

Post-race feedback revealed an important insight: Regal Secret may have been holding her breath when asked to make her finishing burst, which could explain why she has sometimes struggled to finish strongly in previous starts.

Identifying this has given the team a clear plan to unlock further potential as her preparation continues.

This victory also reinforces the mare’s toughness and tactical versatility.

On a track favouring forward runners, the early positioning was critical, and Stackhouse’s measured ride ensured Regal Secret was never out of contention.

The mare’s ability to respond under pressure and fight back in the closing stages reflects both her physical ability and growing confidence, and it’s a quality that will make her a horse to watch as the preparation unfolds.

For owners, this result is particularly satisfying.

After patience and careful management, Regal Secret has rewarded the team and her supporters with a performance that not only showcases her ability but highlights the hard work behind the scenes.

Phil Stokes and the stable staff were instrumental in fine-tuning her fitness, while Stackhouse executed a ride that maximised her strengths.

Regal Secret’s win at Kyneton adds a third career victory to her record and sets her up nicely for the remainder of the season.

With the mare now running with confidence and a clearer understanding of her finishing requirements, connections can look forward to seeing her continue to develop and potentially tackle higher-grade assignments in the near future.

Regal Zeus Wins at Caulfield

Regal Zeus Steals the Show in John Dillon Stakes

Caulfield, 1400m — Regal Zeus has done it again, producing a front-running masterclass to claim the Listed John Dillon Stakes in commanding style.

From barrier one, Jamie Mott had the perfect plan — jump cleanly, take control, and make the race unfold under our terms.

And that’s exactly what happened.

As the gates opened, Regal Zeus surged to the lead, crossed to the fence, and immediately dictated a genuine tempo that put his rivals under pressure from the outset.

On paper, the late scratchings made the task look easier, but don’t mistake this as a gift — this was a performance of skill, fitness, and class.

As the field turned for home, challengers came hard.

Hughes, Just A Deal, and others made their bids, but Regal Zeus refused to yield, digging deep and holding on by a head in a finish that had punters on the edge of their seats.

Dropping back from a mile and following a demanding preparation, questions over his sharpness were answered emphatically.

He handled the 1400m with authority, showing the fitness, toughness, and mental maturity that have defined this campaign.

His last 100 metres displayed all the heart of a quality stakes performer — strong, determined, and relentless.

With 3 Stakes wins from his last 4 starts and career earnings now over $1 million, Regal Zeus continues to prove himself as a consistent, elite performer at Listed level.

This was a performance that combined tactics, power, and pure class.

Regal Zeus didn’t just win; he controlled the race from start to finish, leaving a lasting impression of a horse at the peak of his powers.

With his confidence and fitness soaring, the next targets are bound to be just as exciting — and, if today is any guide, he will be hard to beat wherever he goes next.

Talented Regal Ripper Shows Grit and Determination to Claim Victory

Regal Ripper Storms to Maiden Victory in Thrilling

1200m Sprint at Morphetville

Regal Ripper, the talented son of Zousain, has broken through for his maiden win in a dramatic 1200m sprint, showcasing both courage and raw ability.

After a series of competitive but slightly disappointing runs, Regal Ripper’s performance today was a perfect blend of race experience, natural speed, and determination.

Coming into this race, Regal Ripper had been a consistent on-pace performer in his three prior starts but had fallen just short in the closing stages.

His previous run over 1250m behind Light the Night saw him slightly fatigued late, despite a solid position.

Today, everything aligned perfectly.

The race itself was competitive, with four promising debutants in the field and several lightly raced horses showing early speed.

Navy Rock, a son of Gracena, jumped well and showed early pace, while Scooped, another debutant, took up the lead.

Rousling Refrain, initially in the mix, was scratched at the gates, and other key contenders included Pretty Perky, Wine Snob, and Loseyatoetoe.

From the jump, Regal Ripper settled beautifully just behind the leaders, keeping a close eye on the pace while conserving energy.

As the field approached the straight, Scooped and Pretty Perky led, but Regal Ripper began to challenge, producing a powerful and sustained sprint.

In the final 250 meters, he knuckled down to wear down the brave debutant Loseyatoetoe, who had struck the front earlier, before crossing the line just ahead in a tight finish.

This performance confirmed that Regal Ripper is a colt with plenty of natural talent and scope, capable of continuing to improve with strength and experience.

He’s a horse who will develop into a very competitive performer over the next preparation or two, and today’s win will provide confidence and a solid foundation for his racing future.

Credit all goes to the Stokes team, whose patient and expert preparation put Regal Ripper in the perfect position to perform.

The ride by Caitlin Jones was equally impressive — calm, precise, and perfectly timed, giving him the best chance to unleash his finishing burst.

For Regal Ripper’s owners, this maiden victory is a milestone.

It validates this gelding’s talent, rewards the patience of the team and supporters, and sets the stage for an exciting campaign ahead.

With confidence and experience now on his side, there’s plenty to be excited about in his next preparation.

Front-Running Masterclass: Regal Zeus Wins the Lord Stakes

Front-Running Masterclass: Regal Zeus Wins the Lord Stakes

Regal Zeus Wins the Lord Stakes

Regal Zeus Delivers Stakes Glory in the Listed

Lord Stakes at Sandown

Regal Zeus has once again stamped himself as a genuine stakes-class performer, producing a brave and commanding front-running victory in the Listed Lord Stakes (1600m) at Sandown Lakeside.

In a high-quality field packed with depth, speed, and proven black-type performers, Regal Zeus executed a perfectly planned race to claim one of the summer carnival’s key features — a win that rewarded patience, precision planning, and faith from his loyal ownership group.

A Race Won by Strategy and Strength

From the outset, the plan was clear.

Jump cleanly.

Roll forward.

Control the tempo.

Regal Zeus did exactly that.

Beginning well from the barriers, he quickly assumed his customary position in front, allowing Jye McNeil to dictate terms aboard the powerful gelding.

Once settled into his strong, rolling rhythm, Regal Zeus was able to take the field out of their comfort zones — a scenario that plays directly to his greatest strength.

Approaching the turn, McNeil asked Regal Zeus to gradually increase the pressure, stretching the field and forcing his rivals to chase.

When challenged late by the fast-finishing St Lawrence, Regal Zeus showed his trademark toughness, refusing to yield and holding on strongly to the line.

It was a textbook mile performance on the Lakeside circuit.

Targeted to Perfection by John McArdle

A special mention must go to trainer John McArdle, whose preparation of Regal Zeus deserves enormous credit.

This race had been identified as Regal Zeus’ grand final more than two months out, with every run during the campaign carefully structured to bring him to peak fitness on this day.

After a luckless and unsuitable run at Pakenham over 1400 metres, the decision to return to the mile under ideal conditions proved decisive.

On race day, Regal Zeus presented in pristine physical and mental condition, parading with purpose and energy — a clear indicator he was ready to perform at his best.

Elite planning. Elite execution.

A Super Ride from Jye McNeil

Riding Regal Zeus for the first time is no simple task.

He is a horse that must be ridden with confidence and understanding — not too aggressive, not too conservative.

Jye McNeil executed the plan flawlessly.

After studying replays and receiving clear pre-race instructions, McNeil delivered a calm, assured ride, getting Regal Zeus into rhythm early, giving him a brief mid-race breather, and pushing the button at precisely the right moment.

It was a ride that highlighted experience, composure, and race awareness at stakes level.

A Victory That Means More

This Lord Stakes win adds further weight to an already impressive résumé:

  • Five-time stakes winner
  • Ten career victories
  • Closing in on $1 million in prize money
  • Proven performer at 1600m
  • Ultra-honest, durable, and genuine

Importantly, this was a win achieved on Regal Zeus’ terms, reinforcing just how effective he is when allowed to control a race at the mile.

Now, it’s time to celebrate.

This is what elite racehorse ownership looks like.

Winning Machine: Regal Tycoon Makes It Three Straight and Still Rising

Winning Machine: Regal Tycoon Makes It Three Straight and Still Rising

Regal Tycoon wins at Southside Cranbourne

Regal Tycoon Wins Again – Three in a Row and Still Improving

Regal Tycoon has done it again.

In a strong Benchmark 70 contest, Regal Tycoon recorded her third consecutive victory, delivering another performance that perfectly sums up what makes her such a special racehorse – toughness, tactical speed, and an incredible will to win.

From the moment the gates opened, she put herself in the race.

Beginning cleanly, she rolled forward under Jamie Mott and was able to control the tempo from the front, a key advantage on the night.

Despite stepping up in grade and carrying a solid weight, Regal Tycoon travelled comfortably throughout and always looked in command.

When pressure came approaching the turn, Jamie asked her to extend, and she responded instantly.

She quickened, created separation, and powered away to the line for a decisive and authoritative victory, once again proving she is far more than just honest — she’s genuinely progressive.

A High-Quality Win Against Strong Opposition

This was no easy assignment.

The race featured several in-form and well-backed runners, including horses with proven metropolitan form, yet Regal Tycoon made it look straightforward.

Chasers such as Metallic Ruler and Illuminance ran well under different circumstances, but none could match Regal Tycoon’s combination of race position, acceleration, and resilience.

Importantly, she achieved this while racing away from the inferior inside ground, highlighting her adaptability and race craft — traits that become increasingly important as horses rise through the grades.

A Remarkable Record of Consistency

Regal Tycoon’s record continues to stand out in Australian racing:

  • 15 career starts
  • 5 wins
  • 9 placings
  • Never finished outside the top three

That level of consistency is exceptionally rare and highly sought-after in racehorse ownership.

She gives her owners something to cheer about every time she steps onto the track — a true professional in every sense.

Outstanding Team Effort Behind the Scenes

This result is a credit to the entire team.

Trainer John McArdle continues to do a superb job managing Regal Tycoon, keeping her thriving both mentally and physically.

His patient, methodical approach is paying dividends as she matures and strengthens with racing.

Jamie Mott deserves significant praise for another measured, confident ride — judging the tempo perfectly and allowing Regal Tycoon to use her natural strengths.

The team at Fulmen Park also play a crucial role, providing an environment that allows her to recover, freshen, and return to the races in peak condition.

Taramansour Wins the 2025 Pakenham Cup in a Career-Defining Staying Performance

Taramansour Wins the 2025 Pakenham Cup in a Career-Defining Staying Performance

Taramansour Wins the Pakenham cup

TARAMANSOUR: THE IRON HORSE WHO DEFIED THE ODDS

IN A PAKENHAM CUP FOR THE AGES

Some wins are exciting. Some are emotional.

And then there are wins like this — the kind that remind you why we race.

On Saturday, Taramansour produced one of the most courageous and deserving victories of the season, claiming the 2025 Ladbrokes Pakenham Cup (2500m) in a performance that silenced doubters and rewarded belief.

At nine years of age, after a long and demanding preparation, “The Big T” saved his very best for the biggest stage.

A Win Earned the Hard Way

This was not a gift. This was not a soft run or a lucky break.

Taramansour came into the race having raced six times since September, covering over 14 kilometres in that span alone. Many questioned whether there was anything left in the tank. Some even suggested it might be time to call it a day.

Instead, what we witnessed was a horse peaking at exactly the right moment.

From a midfield position, three-wide and exposed, Luke Currie made the bold decision to let Taramansour roll into the race approaching the 800m. It was a move born of confidence — in the horse’s fitness, his honesty, and his will to compete.

That decision won the race.

Taramansour hit the front at the top of the straight and then did what only genuine stayers can do — he kept finding.

Under pressure, drifting slightly but never yielding, he ground his rivals into submission, pulling clear late to score a famous victory.

There was no horse more deserving of a win like this.

A Huge Statement to the Racing World

This was more than just a Stakes win.

It was a statement — to the market, to the critics, and to anyone who thought Taramansour’s best days were behind him.

His work was not done.

He wasn’t hanging on.

He was building toward this moment.

In a race dominated pre-event by hype and market support for emerging stayers, it was the seasoned professional who stood tallest when it mattered most.

Elite Horsemanship Rewarded

Trainer Phillip Stokes deserves immense credit for his judgment and belief.

Rather than tipping Taramansour out or retiring him, the stable adjusted the preparation, kept him happy, kept him racing, and trusted his soundness and durability. That decision was vindicated in the best possible way.

Taramansour is an old-fashioned racehorse — tough, genuine, and thriving on competition.

And the ride? Luke Currie was superb. Calm, decisive, and brave. He trusted the horse and committed early, producing a ride that perfectly matched the horse underneath him

Why This Win Means So Much

To win a Pakenham Cup at this stage of a horse’s career is rare.

To do it after such a demanding campaign is exceptional.

To do it when many had written him off makes it unforgettable.

This was a victory built on:

  • Durability
  • Fitness
  • Belief
  • And heart

Taramansour owes nobody anything — yet he continues to give everything.

A Day to Remember for Our Owners

To our owners, this is your reward.

Racing doesn’t always give instant gratification. But days like this — when patience and belief are rewarded — make the journey worthwhile.

Enjoy this win. Celebrate it.
Victories like this are earned, not bought.
