From Last to First: Regal Azmon Powers Home for Group Glory

Regal Azmon Stuns Morphettville with Explosive Group 3 Victory

On Saturday at Morphettville, Regal Azmon delivered a performance that will be talked about for a long time.

In the Group 3 Hahn Cummings Stakes, he defied a tough race shape, serious weight disadvantages, and pre-race market drift to unleash one of the most explosive finishes we’ve seen this season.

Settling at the rear of the field as the leaders controlled a steady mid-race tempo, Regal Azmon looked to have it all against him.

The early pace didn’t suit backmarkers, and with rivals like Aaron Bay enjoying massive weight swings in their favour, the form experts were siding elsewhere.

But we had a plan and  jockey Lachlan Neindorf stuck to it.

Neindorf rode with supreme confidence.

“He’s a bit of a quirky horse — he just wants to be left alone early. Once he gets that space, he can really launch,” he said. And launch he did. At the 400-metre mark, Regal Azmon was still near last and facing a wall of horses.

But once he peeled out into clear air, he let rip with a jaw-dropping turn of foot, storming past the field and swallowing them up in a matter of strides.

“From the clouds, if you don’t mind!” roared the race caller as Regal Azmon surged to the lead.

It was a performance that stunned punters and silenced doubters — the kind of win that leaves even seasoned professionals shaking their heads in admiration.

Trainer Phillip Stokes was understandably thrilled with the result, and proud of the journey the horse has taken.

“He’s gone to another level. He’s lightly raced for a rising eight-year-old, and has come back from a tendon injury better than ever,” he said.

“Huge thanks to Lee Everson for the rehab — this win is as much his as it is ours.”

The magnitude of the moment wasn’t lost on the team.

To win a race named in honour of the legendary Bart Cummings is a privilege in itself — but to do it in such dominant fashion made the achievement even sweeter.

Regal Azmon didn’t just win — he did it with style, character, and class.

There’s now talk of a freshen-up, with the Brisbane winter carnival under consideration.

Nothing is confirmed, but one thing is certain: Regal Azmon has stamped himself as a genuine stakes-class galloper with more to come.

A huge thank you goes to Phillip Stokes and his brilliant team, and to Lachlan Neindorf for a perfectly judged ride under pressure.

And to our loyal owners — thank you for your patience and trust. Wins like this are what make the journey so worthwhile.

This was special. This was Regal Azmon.

Regal Azmon Unleashes Explosive Finish to Win at Morphettville

At Morphettville on Saturday, Regal Azmon stamped himself as a horse on the rise with a breathtaking win in the Croser Open Handicap over 1600m — showcasing the kind of will to win and explosive talent that every owner dreams of.

Jumping cleanly from the barriers, jockey Lachlan Neindorf allowed Regal Azmon to settle in the back third of the field, keeping him relaxed as the early speed proved genuine.

However, the pace noticeably slackened mid-race as leaders France’s Boy and Air Assault looked to stack the field.

Regal Azmon travelled beautifully in a one-off position, conserving energy for the sprint home.

With 600m to run, the move came from Surprise Coming — and Lachlan made the decisive call to use him as a “bunny,” following him into the race.

Swinging for home, congestion across the track presented a challenge.

Showing quick thinking and supreme confidence, Lachlan peeled Regal Azmon to the extreme outside — covering significant ground, but crucially finding clear running room.

Once balanced up, Regal Azmon began to unleash his trademark turn of foot.

Despite laying in slightly, he quickly started to eat into the leaders’ advantage.

At the 100m mark, he was still three lengths adrift and looked unlikely to feature in the finish.

But champions find a way.

Summoning an extraordinary late burst, Regal Azmon flew over the final strides to snatch victory right on the line — defeating a million-dollar Stakes winner in the process and sending a clear signal that even bigger targets are within reach.

It was a phenomenal performance and a testament to the skill of the training team led by Phil Stokes, and the trust placed in Regal Azmon by Lachlan Neindorf, who rode him like the best horse in the race.

Regal Azmon will now be aimed at a Group 3 assignment in two weeks’ time — a richly deserved opportunity given his current form and momentum.

REGAL ZEUS CONQUERS THE BENDIGO GOLDEN MILE

A Champion Rises to the Challenge

In a performance that encapsulated heart, class, and sheer determination, Regal Zeus has secured his place among the rising stars of Melbourne racing with a stunning victory in the Listed Bendigo Golden Mile (1600m).

Facing a testing step up in trip, a late blood scare, and a pre-race barrier mishap, this was a victory forged in adversity—one that further cements Regal Zeus as a horse of exceptional talent and courage.

Against All Odds, A Star Delivers

The task ahead of Regal Zeus was far from straightforward:

  • First attempt at 1600m after a strong 1200m campaign
  • Four weeks between runs – requiring peak fitness
  • Elevated blood readings late in the week – raising concerns
  • Barrier mishap before the race – nearly forcing a late scratching

Yet, as true champions do, he defied the challenges and delivered when it mattered most.

A Masterclass in Tactics & Tenacity

Jockey Jamie Mott produced a ride of absolute precision, executing the race plan flawlessly.

Taking control early, he ensured Regal Zeus found the lead before stealing a crucial mid-race breather—a move that proved decisive in the final furlong.

Turning for home, Zeus kicked clear, opening up three lengths in a burst of acceleration that looked set to seal the race.

But Smokin’ Princess, under a perfectly timed ride from Tom Prebble, launched a fierce challenge at the 150m mark, drawing level with our gallant warrior.

The response? Pure class.

The moment Regal Zeus sensed the threat, he dug deeper than ever, finding another gear to fight back and win by a head in a finish that had the crowd roaring.

A Stakes Winner – And This Is Just the Beginning

With this victory, Regal Zeus adds his name to the honour roll of the Bendigo Golden Mile, securing his first black-type success—a milestone that promises even greater opportunities ahead.

Post-race, he blew heavily, suggesting there’s plenty more to come as he reaches peak fitness.

The team will now assess his recovery before plotting the next move in what is shaping up to be a truly exciting campaign.

A Huge Thank You to the Regal Zeus Team

Super training performance by John McArdle and the team that just keep this incredible horse firing.

Regal Zeus is a special talent, and we can’t wait to see where his journey takes us next.

Regal Zeus wins again at Caulfield

Regal Zeus Claims VOBIS Gold Sprint in Gutsy Display

Regal Zeus continued his winning ways with a commanding victory in the $200,000 VOBIS Gold Sprint (1200m) at Caulfield, proving once again why he’s one of the most consistent gallopers in the Regal Bloodstock ranks.

Jumping from barrier four under in-form jockey Daniel Stackhouse, Regal Zeus began well and settled near the speed, tracking the early pace set by Prancing Spirit.

With his customary grit, he travelled strongly into the home straight, Stackhouse nursing him into top gear as his main rivals began to loom.

Despite a strong challenge from Bossy Nick in the final 100 meters, Regal Zeus dug deep to hold his advantage, crossing the line three-quarters of a length in front, with Prancing Spirit finishing third.

The win marks the son of Zoustar’s seventh career triumph from 22 starts, with five second placings to his name, further cementing his reputation as a galloper with heart and ability.

His first-up run in the Listed Abell Stakes at Moonee Valley had been encouraging, and he stripped fitter here, relishing the slight drop in grade.

“He’s matured so much with racing,” Stackhouse said post-race. “He used to get worked up on race day, but now he’s really learned to handle it all, and that’s showing in his performances. He was strong all the way to the line.”

Trainer John McArdle was equally pleased with the effort:

“We were confident he’d run well after that first-up run, and he’s just such a professional now. He’s got a great will to win and always puts himself in the right spot.”

A massive shoutout to D. Stackhouse for another 10/10 ride and to John and his team for their incredible work behind the scenes.

Regal Zeus will now be aimed at further black-type assignments as he continues his campaign, with his connections eyeing another step up in class in the coming weeks.

The Story of Regal Secret’s Brilliant Victory

What a performance from Regal Secret!

Today, she proved her mettle against a field packed with talent and form, overcoming a challenging race setup with grit and determination.

In a race dominated by early pressure, Regal Secret’s preferred running style seemed at a disadvantage.

Yet, with a clean break from the gates and a masterful ride by Daniel Stackhouse, she showed just how special she is.

Despite being pressed by Ideal Girl and Takeko, Daniel settled her into a perfect rhythm, setting the stage for a memorable run.

As the field approached the home turn, it was clear no horse was traveling better than Regal Secret.

Spotting the narrowest of gaps as the leaders straightened, she made her move.

Without hesitation, she burst through with acceleration and courage, leaving the field behind in a flash, opening up two lengths in moments.

Takeko rallied late, finding good ground two off the fence, but Regal Secret held her comfortably, showing class and professionalism right to the finish line.
