Brave Star Shows Class and Courage in Impressive Murray Bridge Triumph
Brave Star Returns to Winning Ways
with Tough Murray Bridge Victory
Brave Star reminded everyone of his class and determination on Saturday, producing a tough and professional victory over 1600 metres at Murray Bridge for trainers Philip and Karen Stokes and the Regal Bloodstock ownership team.
The rising nine-year-old overcame a number of pre-race obstacles to deliver an outstanding performance, including a wide barrier and a track that had improved from a Heavy 8 to a Soft 7 – conditions many believed would reduce his advantage.
With the race expected to be run at a genuine tempo, leading South Australian jockey Jason Holder produced a ride full of patience and confidence.
Brave Star began cleanly before Holder allowed him to roll forward and settle perfectly just behind the leaders.
Rather than asking for an early effort, Holder ensured Brave Star travelled comfortably throughout, conserving plenty of energy as the field approached the home turn.
When the pressure was applied in the straight, Brave Star quickly responded.
Given plenty of room to build through his gears, the veteran lengthened beautifully, surged to the front inside the final 200 metres and established what proved to be a winning break.
Although the fast-finishing Head of the Herd charged late, Brave Star dug deep to repel the challenge and record another deserved victory.
It was a performance built on courage, experience and a perfectly judged ride.
Leading form analysts were quick to praise Holder’s tactics after the race, noting that Brave Star had enjoyed the ideal run from a difficult draw while several of his main rivals were forced to work much harder during the middle stages.
The victory was also richly deserved after Brave Star had produced a string of honest performances without everything falling his way.
On this occasion, the race unfolded perfectly, and the old warrior capitalised in impressive fashion.
For Regal Bloodstock, the win is another reminder of Brave Star’s remarkable durability and competitive spirit.
Brave Star continues to race with enormous enthusiasm and has once again demonstrated why he has become such a favourite among his owners.
Just as importantly, the performance suggests there is still plenty left to look forward to during this preparation.
Huge thanks goes to Philip, Jason Holder and the entire stable team, whose outstanding work behind the scenes continues to have Brave Star performing at such a high level.
For the Regal Bloodstock ownership group, Saturday’s victory was another memorable chapter in the story of one of the stable’s most genuine and popular campaigners – and a timely reminder that Brave Star still knows exactly where the winning post is.
