It was a performance built on tactical speed and sharp acceleration, with Regal Secret able to capitalise fully on a slowly run race and turn it into a sit-and-sprint contest where she held a clear advantage.

Once she hit top gear, there was no catching her.

After a minor setback forced a late adjustment in the lead-up, the decision to hold her back a week proved pivotal, with Regal Secret arriving at the races fresh, fit and ready to fire.
